0- Introduction
A brief introduction...
Hi! 3 years ago, returning from a trip to Japan, I decided to learn Japanese. Yes, in a relaxed way, enjoying the process. And I keep doing it, sometimes with more passion, other times more slowly, but always moving forward.
I am neither a philologist nor a teacher. But if a curious person. If the Internet has brought you here, I'm sure you're one of mine :)
Method. How I'm studying
On this website, I would like to share my experience with you, and if it helps you, it will make me happy. In the following sections, I will show you the process followed, as well as the findings made along the way.
The journey so far, I would say, has been a bit anarchic, based on the resources that I have been slowly finding on the Internet. In my opinion, as important as the method is, the key to learning anything is time and dedication. I call it anarchic because I don't use a set routine or syllabus. Depending on the mood of each day, I immerse myself in learning the Kanji, in the study of vocabulary, grammar, I try to read some text, listen to some podcasts later, etc. In other words, it has become an oasis to enjoy in peace every day.
But this is my first piece of advice: take a moment every day to learn Japanese (at least 20 minutes or half an hour).
Objetives
My initial goals are (pose your own):
- Be able to read and understand Japanese
- Be able to listen and understand Japanese
With these two goals, I would like to be able to speak Japanese in the future, but living in Vitoria-Gasteiz, I don't expect a big miracle. Step by Step.
And learn to write? I have ruled it out at first. It is very difficult, and my pragmatic side (which I also have) tells me that I can live without it. Of course, I will show you how you can write on a computer or mobile easily. I know that many people are particularly attracted to writing. If so, learn to write, it will be fun too.
Why this website?
On one hand, I believe that the process of making this website is something that will help me in the learning process, and that is how I have considered it. This idea is an idea I read on a blog a long time ago and I liked it.
Why now, after three years? Two weeks ago, a grave eleven-year-old nephew told me that he wanted to learn Japanese and asked me where he could start. And with the intention of telling you about it, I have started to prepare this website.
In fact, he is very motivated: he is a Pokémon fanatic, which has encouraged him to learn Japanese.
And what is your motivation? Here you have a Brief Guide about Japan prepared with my children, maybe it will help you to motivate yourself :) (when I take a while I will translate it).
